Signing in

Homeward offers several ways to sign in, and you can mix them: use a password today, a passkey tomorrow, and an email code when you have forgotten both. Choose whichever suits the device in front of you.

Open the sign-in dialog from Sign in on any page. You can use:

  • Google, Apple, or Facebook — sign in with a connected account. A provider only works once you have linked it (see Password, passkeys, and two-step verification).
  • Passkey — unlocks with your device’s fingerprint, face, or screen lock. When passkeys are enabled, your browser may also offer one silently from its autofill suggestions.
  • Email and password — your normal password sign-in.
  • Email Login Code — Homeward emails a 4-digit code instead of asking for a password. Enter the four digits and you are in. Resend Code waits through a 180-second cooldown before it can send again.

If two-step verification is on, Homeward asks for a second step on every sign-in, including email-code sign-ins. Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app, or choose Use a recovery code instead and enter one of the backup codes you saved when you turned the feature on. Each backup code works once.

Section titled ““Forgot Password?” is not a reset link”

On the sign-in dialog, Forgot Password? does not email you a reset link. It shows this guidance:

No password? Use Email Login Code above to sign in, then set a new one from your dashboard under Account → Security.

That is the whole flow, and it is the part that trips people up most often: sign in with the emailed code first, then set a password afterwards from your account settings.

New to Homeward? Join us starts the sign-up flow. With email, you enter your address, then verify it — either by entering the 4-digit code from the email or by clicking the verification link inside it. Once the email is verified you add your name and a password and your account is ready. If you already have a profile, Homeward sends you straight to your security settings; if not, it walks you through setting one up.

Forgot which email? starts the Find your account flow.

  1. Enter your legal first name, legal last name, and date of birth, and choose Find my account. Your email is never shown — only masked hints.
  2. Homeward lists accounts that might be yours, each showing the name and a masked email address. Pick yours and choose Send code.
  3. Enter the 4-digit code from the email and choose Sign me in. A correct code signs you in directly, with no password.

If nothing matches, double-check the spelling and date, or sign in another way.

You signed in with Apple or Google and landed in a new account

Section titled “You signed in with Apple or Google and landed in a new account”

Social sign-in can create a fresh account when you meant to reach the one you already had — for example, if Apple’s private relay hid your email address. Homeward detects the likely duplicate and offers to fix it.

Use Link your Homeward account to attach your social sign-in to the account you already have:

  1. Enter your legal name and date of birth so Homeward can find your existing account.
  2. Pick your account from the candidates and enter the 4-digit code emailed to its address.
  3. When the account is linked, sign in again with your provider and you continue as yourself.

If the matched account signs in with a password, Homeward tells you there is no social sign-in to link and points you at Find my account instead — that is the flow you want.

Some accounts finish setup with one more step. If your account was created with a provider relay address, Homeward asks for a Personal email, then sends a verification link to it. If no password is set, it asks you to create one — the same checklist applies, starting with at least 12 characters. Once those are done you land in your dashboard as usual.

If a mandatory profile detail is missing or invalid — an email, name, date of birth, gender, nationality, or languages — Homeward holds you at a short Details to complete form before the dashboard opens. Fields that already pass are shown but disabled; you only correct the ones flagged. Save and continue, and you are on your way.
