Visibility, connections, and profile managers
The Access & Settings tab decides who reaches your profile and who can edit it. It has two sections: Visibility & connections and the profile manager cards.
Who can view this profile
Section titled “Who can view this profile”Three levels, as radio cards:
- Public — badged “Recommended”. “Visible to everyone, including people who are not signed in.”
- Protected — “Limited visibility to the general public, based on our assessment of the risks associated with public disclosure of your ministry details.”
- Private — “Visible only to Homeward staff and approved connections.”
Age limits
Section titled “Age limits”Your date of birth decides which of the three you may choose:
| Age | Available levels |
|---|---|
| Under 13 | Private only |
| 13 to 17 | Protected or Private |
| No valid date of birth | Private only |
Options you cannot use are greyed out rather than hidden, so it is always clear why a level is missing. See Children on the platform.
Visibility is one-way
Section titled “Visibility is one-way”Automatically approve connections
Section titled “Automatically approve connections”With Automatically approve connections on, connection requests are approved without you reviewing each one. Off, every request waits for your decision. Either way, the requests themselves live under Dashboard → Connections — see Connections.
Profiles this profile manages
Section titled “Profiles this profile manages”This card lists the people and organizations this profile manages, each linking into the dashboard. An empty card reads “This profile manages no other profiles.” Managing something is an access grant — it is not the same as being family, staff, or a connection.
Profile manager
Section titled “Profile manager”Homeward uses a single-manager model. One profile manages yours at a time; you do not add a second manager, you replace the current one.
- Transfer Management — the current manager’s button. It opens the Transfer management window.
- Add manager — only appears when the profile has no manager at all. Enter an account email and select Add manager. Once a manager exists, the row changes to “Change manager — Transfer management to replace the current manager.”
- Remove — next to each manager. It needs full access; without it you see “Full access is required to remove managers.”
Transferring management
Section titled “Transferring management”The Transfer management window has two screens.
- Enter the New manager’s account email — “Enter the exact email for a user whose Homeward login is connected to their own self-managed profile” — and select Select user.
- A confirmation screen shows the person you picked and warns: “Confirm the
selected user —
will become the sole manager of . You will immediately lose management access.” To continue you must Sign in again with your password: “Reauthentication protects this one-way access change.”
If you cannot reach the current manager, or the transfer goes wrong, see Getting help.
