Family, organizations, and ministry partners

The Relationships tab holds three cards: Family, Organization affiliations, and Ministry partners. Each one answers a different question — who you belong to, who you work under, and who you work alongside.

Family

Section titled “Family”

Family members appear as an avatar stack on your public profile, linking to their own profiles where they have one.

Select Add relationship to open a four-step flow:

  1. Find person — search existing Homeward profiles.
  2. Verify date of birth — type the other person’s date of birth. Homeward checks it against their record.
  3. Relationship — Spouse, Parent, Child, Sibling, or Other.
  4. Confirm — select Add.

Step 2 is the point of the whole flow: it means only someone who genuinely knows the person can link themselves to them. A stranger who finds your profile cannot claim to be your sibling. An incorrect date of birth is rejected with “The date of birth is incorrect.”

Adding a relationship creates a reciprocal one on the other profile too — the flow tells you so before you confirm.

Each saved family card has:

  • Show on profile — whether the relationship appears publicly. Turn it off and the relationship still exists, but visitors never see it.
  • Move up and move down arrows, and an edit pencil that changes the relation.
  • Remove, which deletes the relationship immediately.

Organization affiliations

Section titled “Organization affiliations”

You cannot add these, and the empty state says why: “No organization affiliations yet. Organizations add you as a connection, so there is nothing to edit here until one does.” If an affiliation is wrong, the organization fixes it — see Campuses, staff, people, and programs.

What you can edit is the text of your own affiliation. Select the pencil icon on a card to open Edit :

  • Title, Start date, and End date (“Leave empty while you are still with this organization.”)
  • What you did — up to 500 characters.
  • Programs — the organization’s published programs, each with Attach or Detach, and a Staff or Participant choice. The focus areas these give you come from the programs and are not edited by hand.

Affiliation cards show a role badge — Admin or Owner; ordinary staff get none — a Primary affiliation badge or a Make primary button, and the programs you are attached to.

Ministry partners

Section titled “Ministry partners”

Ministry partners are the colleagues, mentors, churches, and organizations you work with, named on your public profile. Select Add a partner.

  • Partner profile — required. Search people and organizations; a linked Homeward profile is required, so there is no name-only partner.
  • Relationship — one of Ministry colleague, Mentor, Mentee, Ministry collaborator, Accountability partner, Prayer partner, Sending church, Supporting church, Sending organization, Supporting organization, or Network partner.
  • Role — how they serve, for example “Field director”.
  • Review — up to 2000 characters: how you have worked together and why you recommend this partner.
  • Traits — up to 10 endorsement words, from Adaptable to Wise, with a “N/10” counter. Extra checkboxes disable at the limit.

Select Save.
