Wallet — cards, addresses, and giving defaults

Your Wallet holds the saved cards this profile gives with, the billing addresses attached to them, and the defaults that pre-fill the Donate window. It belongs to the profile open in the dashboard, not to your login.

Donation defaults

Person profiles show a Donation Defaults section with two switches. Each saves immediately and only sets the starting state of the donate window — it does not change any existing gift.

• Include transaction fees — the default for Cover transaction fees (2.9% + $0.30) on your next gift.
• Give anonymously — the default for Give anonymously, which hides your name and contact details from recipients.

Organization profiles do not see this section; they still see their payment methods.

Payment methods

Saved cards appear as tiles showing the brand artwork, the nickname or the brand and last four digits, the funding type, the expiry, and the billing address.

• Default — marks the card that new recurring gifts preselect. Select Default on another tile to move it.
• Edit (pencil icon) — opens the card for editing. You can change its Nickname, its billing address, and whether it is the default payment method.
• Remove — asks for an inline confirmation before the card is deleted.

Note

Removing a card does not break a schedule that uses it — the card still appears as an option in that schedule’s Modify dialog. If it is your only card and you remove it, recurring gifts will need a new saved card before the next charge.

Adding a card

Add card opens a large dialog. Fields:

• Cardholder name — required, prefilled with your profile’s legal name.
• Nickname — optional, shown on the tile.
• Card number — with a strip of accepted networks beside it: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club, and JCB. The strip highlights the detected brand as you type.
• Expiry — a two-digit year is read as 20xx; the month must be 1–12 and the year not in the past.
• Card code — the security code. Its length follows the brand: three digits, or four for American Express.
• Billing address — pick one of your profile’s addresses or add one (below).

How card details are handled

The card number and security code are entered in the payment vault’s own hosted fields. The number never reaches Homeward — only a token, the last four digits, and the brand are stored — and the security code is never stored at all.

Caution

If the vault’s secure fields fail to load, the dialog shows “Secure card entry is unavailable” and saving stays disabled. Cards can only be entered through the hosted fields; wait a moment and try again.

Billing addresses

Cards are billed to one of your profile’s addresses. The picker lists them by address type:

• Residence
• Mailing
• Ministry
• Native Home

Each type can be used once. Add new address expands an inline form with an Address type toggle, a Country select, Street address (plus an optional apartment, suite, unit, or floor line), and City, Region, and Postal code where the country’s format uses them. Changing the country adapts which fields appear and what they are called — State or Province, ZIP or Postal code.

You need at least street, city, country, and any required region or postal code before Save address becomes available. Address types you have already used disappear from the toggle.
