Campuses, staff, people, and programs
This is the most confusing area of the product, so start with the three different things “adding someone” can mean. They are managed in three different places:
| I want to… | Where |
|---|---|
| Let someone edit the organization | Staff roster → set Org admin |
| Show someone on the public staff page | Staff roster, or the auto-join email domain |
| Connect a supporter or friend of the ministry | People & links → Connect as subscriber |
Being on the staff page does not grant dashboard access, and granting dashboard access does not require being staff. The two are set independently on the roster card.
Campus network
Section titled “Campus network”A campus is itself an organization, listed under yours. A large ministry might hold several country organizations as campuses of one parent.
Requests to join a network
Section titled “Requests to join a network”Incoming requests appear first: “
As a campus this organization stops receiving donations directly and is listed under
. Its existing funds stay with it — no money moves — and its profile stays public. It can be promoted back to a full organization later.
Confirm with Become a campus, or press Decline.
Attaching a campus
Section titled “Attaching a campus”Attach a campus opens an editor with a searchable Organization select.
The page splits the two cases for you: organizations you administer, and
organizations you don’t. For your own, the button is Attach and the dialog
Make
Requests you’ve sent lists each with its status — Awaiting their answer, Accepted, or Declined — and a Withdraw button while a request is still pending.
When one of these steps fails, the page tells you which: That change did not go through for attaching, That answer did not go through for accepting or declining, Could not withdraw the request for a withdrawal, and Could not load organizations if the picker could not be filled. Nothing has changed on either side when one of these appears — try again.
A campus card shows the name, the city and country (Location not set when unset), a View profile link to its public page, and Promote. Promoting a campus back to a full organization reverses the arrangement: it becomes independent again and can receive donations directly, and the campus link becomes a peer affiliation. No funds move — they already belong to the campus.
Campuses & locations
Section titled “Campuses & locations”The Campuses & locations card holds the organization’s own locations, which are separate from the campus network.
- Add location opens an editor with Name (required), a This is the headquarters toggle, Address line 1, City, State / region, Country, Latitude, and Longitude. Leave the coordinates blank when you don’t know them — blank means unknown, not zero.
- A location card shows its label (Untitled location if you never named it), an HQ badge when it is the headquarters, the city/region/country line, the address, and the coordinates.
- Remove is confirmed: “This permanently removes the campus and its location details from the organization.” Confirm with Remove campus.
Staff roster
Section titled “Staff roster”The Staff roster tab is the public staff page’s source. Each person is a card with an avatar, name, role, campus, and access control.
Adding and editing a staff member
Section titled “Adding and editing a staff member”Add staff member opens an editor spanning the full row:
- Linked profile — either an existing link, shown as a
/slugbadge with an Unlink button, or the Link to existing profile flow: a search box plus a select of candidates labelled “— ”. Linking a profile takes over the name field. - Name — shown only when the entry is not linked to a profile. Save stays disabled until there is either a linked profile or a non-empty name.
- Role — a select with No role, curated defaults (Missionary, Pastor, Director, Executive Director, Founder, Co-Founder, Administrator, Operations, Finance, Communications, Worship Leader, Teacher, Intern, Volunteer), and Other…, which reveals a Custom role text field.
- Since (year) — four digits, such as
2019. A partial year is not kept. - Campus — a select of the organization’s campuses, plus an At Large toggle. With At Large on, the select is disabled and the person is shown as “At large”. Both are hidden when the organization has no campuses.
Access control
Section titled “Access control”The access control on each card is where dashboard access is granted. It has four states:
| State | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Owner badge | Static. The owner is set elsewhere and cannot be changed here. |
| Link a profile first | The staff entry is not linked to a public individual profile yet, so no access can be granted. |
| No account | The profile is linked, but that person has no Homeward account to grant access to. |
| Select | No admin access (staff only) or Org admin. |
Choosing Org admin grants dashboard access to that person’s account, matched by email. Switching back to No admin access removes it.

People & links
Section titled “People & links”People & links manages subscribers — the supporters, prayer partners and friends of the ministry who are publicly connected to the organization but are not staff.
- Connect a person searches people by name. Each candidate row has Connect as subscriber. Empty result: No matches.
- Connected people lists the subscribers. Each row has an editable Title (placeholder “e.g. Executive Director”) and a Disconnect button.
Dashboard access is not managed here — that is the staff roster’s access control, above.
Programs
Section titled “Programs”Programs describe the organization’s ongoing work. They live on the Programs tab of Programs & funds; funds and fundraisers, which sit on the other two tabs, are covered in Funds, fundraisers, and receiving.
Add program opens the editor:
- Program name — required. Create program stays disabled while it is empty.
- Reach — free text, in the form the product suggests: “3,200 children”.
- Picture — a 3:2 image.
- Description — three rows of text.
- Ministry Focus — the cause areas this program works in.
When you create a program the note reads: “This organization will own the program. You can link its operating campuses, partner organizations, staff, participants, and a fund after creating it.”
A program card shows the name, a two-line description, its Ministry focus
cause badges, Reach:
On an existing program you also get:
- Owner — the profile that owns the program.
- Linked profiles — the people and organizations involved, each with a relationship you set, added and removed through a “Search compatible profiles…” picker.
- Fund — the fund the program’s giving is directed to. See Funds, fundraisers, and receiving.
Editing uses Save changes; creation uses Create program. Delete is

Program enrollment never changes membership or dashboard access — it records involvement in the work, nothing else.

Section titled “Related”- Building your organization profile — the auto-join email domain.
- Funds, fundraisers, and receiving — the money side.
