A tour of your dashboard

The dashboard is the signed-in part of Homeward. Everything you manage — your profile, your giving, your messages, your organization — happens there, and the left sidebar is the map. This article walks the pages in the order the sidebar shows them. Each section is short on purpose: the link at the end goes to the article that explains that page in full.

Getting around

The sidebar sits on the left of every dashboard page and can be collapsed to icons with the toggle at the top of the window. Above the page content, a breadcrumb shows where you are: the section, then the profile you are working on, then the page name. The profile name in the breadcrumb links back to that profile’s overview.

These controls live in the top bar:

Homeward logo — returns to the public homepage.
Book icon — opens this documentation site in a new tab.
Support — starts a support request. It opens Homeward’s own Messages compose screen, not an external help desk, which is easy to misread from the icon. See Messages.
Gear icon — opens your account security settings. See Password, passkeys, and two-step verification.
Pen icon (staff only) — opens the documentation editor. Most people never see it.

The profile switcher

If your account manages more than one profile, the sidebar shows the current profile’s name and avatar at the top. Selecting it opens a list of every profile you can manage, with a Me badge on your own and a check mark on the one you are using. There is a search box, and an Add a profile button at the bottom for creating a profile for someone else — see Joining Homeward.

Switching profiles changes what the whole dashboard shows. Every profile-scoped page below belongs to the profile you have selected.

Complete Your Profile

At the bottom of the sidebar, the Complete Your Profile widget shows a percentage and a list of what is still missing, with optional items marked. Each entry links to the exact field it refers to, so “add a preferred name” drops you on the preferred-name row rather than at the top of the form. The widget disappears once the profile is complete, and the same checklist appears at the top of the profile editor — see Your individual profile.

Overview

The landing page for the selected profile. For a person it summarizes your profile state and recent activity; for an organization it shows your network feed — updates from your connections and the people and organizations you support — alongside an attention list, what is coming up on your schedule, and headline numbers such as subscribers and published updates. Profile

The profile editor, in five tabs. For a person:

Profile tab — names, photos, biography, languages, and work history. See Identity, photos, and biography and Work history and your headline.
Contact tab — addresses, emails, phones, and links. See Contact details and addresses.
Relationships tab — family, organization affiliations, and ministry partners. See Family, organizations, and ministry partners.
Access & Settings tab — visibility, connection approval, and who manages the profile. See Visibility, connections, and profile managers.
Personal Travel tab — travel documents, health notes, and emergency contacts, all private and used mainly for Homeward events. See Travel documents, health, and emergency contacts.

Every field row carries a small eye icon telling you whether that value is public, masked, or private.

Organization profiles use the same five-part idea with different sections: profile and mission, contact, leadership, legal entities, and networks. See Building your organization profile.

Updates

Where updates are written and published. On a person profile this is your newsletters and field reports — see Posting field updates. On an organization profile it also includes photo albums — see Field updates and gallery.

Programs, and Programs & funds

On an organization profile this page holds the campus network, the staff roster, your people and links, and your programs and fundraisers. Read more: Campuses, staff, people, and programs and Funds, fundraisers, and receiving donations.

Giving

The Giving group appears for every profile you can open, whether it is a person or an organization. Money given and money received are both handled here, and the pages are scoped to the selected profile.

Giving overview — what this profile has given, to whom, and what is coming up. See Giving on Homeward.
Scheduled & Recurring — change, pause, resume or cancel a repeating gift. See Scheduled and recurring gifts.
Donation activity — the full ledger, with filters, receipts, and annual statements. See Donation history, receipts, and annual statements.
Wallet — saved cards, billing addresses, and your giving defaults. See Wallet: cards, addresses, and giving defaults.

Balance & receiving

For profiles that receive donations: the total balance, a balance-over-time chart, per-fund balances, payout requests, and a searchable transaction history you can export as CSV. A payout request may combine several funds, and Homeward staff reviews each request before money is sent. Read more: Balance and payouts.

This page needs a qualified ministry tier. If you are sent back to the overview when you open it, the selected profile does not have that tier yet.

Connections

Who this profile is connected to: requests waiting for your answer, family and colleague connections Homeward created automatically, and connections inherited through an organization. Each row also has a Show updates switch that decides whether that person’s updates appear in your feed. Read more: Connections.

Messages

The mailbox for the selected profile: conversations with anyone who has written to you, plus a daily digest of unread activity. The envelope button at the very bottom of the sidebar opens it too, with an unread count on the icon. The Support button in the top bar opens this page with a message already started. Endorsements

Endorsements written about this profile, and endorsements it has written about others. An endorsement is published as written and cannot be removed by the person it describes — only Homeward staff can remove one, after a report. Read more: Endorsements.

Admin settings

Shown only when your account administers the selected profile. It controls tiers, access, and other settings most owners never touch, and Homeward staff use the same page when they help you. Read more: Staff administration.

Account settings

Account-wide settings are not tied to any one profile:

Letters interests — choose the ministry areas and regions that shape the homepage Letters you see. See Preferences and your Letters edition.
Security — password, passkeys, two-step verification, connected accounts, and active sessions. See Password, passkeys, and two-step verification.

If a page is missing

“Where did that page go?” is the most common question Homeward support receives. It has three causes.

You are on the wrong profile. Pages belong to the profile selected in the switcher. Your own profile may have giving pages that a child profile you manage does not, and organization pages only appear on an organization.
The page needs a tier or an administrator role. Some ministry pages are gated on a ministry tier, and some are limited to account admins. The shell usually redirects you to the profile overview rather than showing an error.
The feature is not enabled for that profile. Whether a profile serves in ministry, or whether an organization has funds open, changes what appears.

A missing page reflects context or access — not a different version of the app. If you expected a page and cannot find it, Getting help explains what to send support.
